Generic user types

Description

To provide a framework for Boxxd’s development, various individual user profiles have been defined, each specifying for various aspects of their use and knowledge.

The descriptions are generic and do not apply to everybody :-)

Adam, a commercial end user

Job:

  • Works in a department

General:

  • Does not like anything looking technical such as html commands, angle brackets

Boxxd expectations:

  • Simple to use
  • Easy to grasp
  • Place to put his files.

Use of tools:

  • Will have used Windows
  • May never have used a plain text editor (i.e. notepad)
  • May know what the home tab is on a website

File extensions:

  • Hardly know the difference between a .html, .png, etc.

Editing:

  • Starts sentences with a capital letter
  • Does not understand the difference between a large font heading and the logical level 1 (i.e. h1).
  • Does not really like frontmatter.

Markdown:

  • Will probobably need to learn the concept of Markdown

Value Domains:

  • Does not understand the concept of processes
  • Does know that there are various jobs such as marketing, sales, accounts

Names:

  • Expect directory names to start with a capital letter
  • Prefer dash conjugated words instead of CamelCase

Automation:

  • Does not really understand what automation is about
  • Sees automation more of showing his errors.

Eve, a commercial power user

Boxxd expectations:

  • Place to put things and find things that belong together “together”.
  • Is willing to use Boxxd as much as possible.

Home:

  • Likes to use Home to bundle information

Help:

  • Is willing to adapt the Help for others

Talk:

  • Can quickly create slideshows

Markdown:

  • Will have used a plain text editor (i.e. notepad)
  • Knows how to use Markdown

File extensions:

  • Will understand, that files have different functions.
  • Will know that .html and .md files have different uses

Files:

  • Know that files may need to have lines for scripts
  • Know how to cut and paist lines into files

Names:

  • Will have seen CamelCase words, and will not be scared of them

Zip:

  • Will know how to zip

Process knowledge:

  • Will know that their are various processes
  • Can come to grips with the concept of Value-Domains

Automation:

  • Understands that what she does can cause errors.

Jack, a Boxxd power user

Boxxd use:

  • Will try to understand how Boxxd is structured and will adapt the structure for the best use case.

Home:

  • Likes to use Home to save time.

Help:

  • Will want to adapt Help to save time.

Markdown:

  • Will understand a simple texteditor
  • Will understand Markdown

Tech knowledge:

  • May not understand how a html page is structured but is willing to learn that their is a header and body.

Value domains:

  • Will understand the concept of Value-Domains
  • That it saves money in the long run.

Automation:

  • Will want to use Boxxd to improve value for his needs and in the enterprise.

Jill, an integration expert

Boxxd use:

  • Will want to integrate Boxxd into pre- and post-postprocesses.
  • To decrease the number of help line tickets.
  • Improve quality of data exchange between 3rd parties and systems.

Value domains:

  • Will understand the concept
  • Will try to increase value in all processes.

Tools:

  • Is willing to learn things such as html, python, etc. to create value
  • Understands roughly how a html is structured
